The Ethiopian government is not releasing detailed information about the state of the war with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).
However, reports from citizen journalism emerging on social media (with images) indicate that the TPLF has lost battles and fortified positions in the Wolkait, Humera and Waghumra areas of the Amhara region.
Another possible circumstantial evidence is that Ethiopian State media released video footage of hundreds of thousands of captured TPLF forces. It is not verified from other sources. The TPLF on its part has been releasing video footage of “captured government soldiers” via its media outlets based in the United States.
The video below is footage from EBC, Ethiopian state media, showing captured TPLF forces. They are highlighting forced conscription and compulsion by TPLF authorities. There is a belief among a considerable section of politicized Ethiopians, as observed in social media, that the United States and its allies are tacitly supporting the TPLF.
