The Office of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia on Friday released a statement expressing commitment to undertake alleged rights violations in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. This is the second statement in less than a week.

The statement noted that complex challenges in the region came as the direct consequence of Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF)’s attack on the Ethiopian Defense Force on November 4,2020.

Furthermore, it is stated that the Ethiopian government has been making efforts to address complex security, humanitarian and social challenges in the region with the aim to stabilize the region and “bring to normalcy” the lives of citizens in the region.

Another point stated in the statement is that the Ethiopian government has been collaborating with humanitarian agencies and development partners to address the humanitarian crisis. This week, the government announced 3.1 million people in 34 districts (out of 36 districts) received humanitarian assistance.

World Food Program chief,David Beasley,  was this week in Tigray once more. He remarked that there is important progress in humanitarian aid delivery in the region.

“I’m back on the ground here in #Ethiopia, talking with our team, getting updates and continuing to push to reach everyone in need in #Tigray. Important progress being made, but much more to do. We need $107 million ASAP to scale-up

@WFP ‘s operations,” he said this week in a Twitter message.

Operation to bring what Ethiopian government calls criminals who are believed to be responsible for the situation in Tigray region is still underway and will continue, as confirmed by the government.

It is pledged that the government will investigate rights violations in the region. In that regard, invitation is made for international technical assistance.

“The government welcomes international technical assistance to undertake the investigations as well as invites the potential to collaborate on joint investigations,” the statement said.

State media outlets reported right after completion of the law enforcement operation that TPLF set over 10,000 convicted criminals free after it realized that it lost the war.

Ethiopian Human Rights Commission has announced this month that there were 108 cases of rape and sexual assault in the region. An Investigation team from the commission confirmed them from hospital sources and law enforcement bodies.

Earlier this week, Ethiopian government said that it is gravely concerned about misinformation campaign to distort facts on the ground in Tigray region of Ethiopia.

    Humble Commentary
    It is amazing!
An ancient, world known, proud, independent country ETHIOPIA is inviting International assistance in the investigation of its internal sociological/political problem!!! NOTE: It is NOT, NOT, NOT TECHNOLOGICAL POBLEM, that we are talking about

If the oldest independent country in the world cannot solve its own internal SOCIOLOGICAL problem, then AFRICA IS DOOMED TO BE SUBSERVIENT to the alms and kindness of the SUPERIOR WHITE RACE >>> USA, BRITAIN, FRENCH, ITALIAN … via the cover of the deceiving title, ‘The United Nations of International Organization’. Perfect employment source for >>> [please fill the gap …] <<< and controlling the World.

Addressing only to the BLACK African Continent, Africans are — HOPELESSLY — left with the immortal words of Alen Paton: ‘CRY, MY BELOVED AFRICA’. Go ahead, roll down those tears, helplessly. THE END

  2. ‘Unfettered?’ I don’t know about that. But the invitation shows the government and its authorities are confident that a gross violation of human rights was not planned and executed in the region. There is no question that the goons of the TPLF had provoked and started the war. The central government had and still has the mandate to maintain law and order everywhere with the country’s territory. It will be very interesting to see how this invitation will pan out.

  3. On the eve of the historic that has been and Shall remain to be the inspiration for freedom mongering people worldwide, I want to give a roaring shout out to my countrymen/women to remind them in unity our forefathers had accomplished what seemed to be impossible. That pride of the colored and also humanity, the Battle and Victory at Adwa was a result of ironclad unity among numerous groups of people who shed their differences and stood up to a bully as one. The blood that flowed on that battlefield was the blood of almost every ethnic group that heeded the call to arms. We should show the world we are still as united. Let’s put all our resources to help those in dire need throughout the old country including those brothers and sisters in Tigray.

  4. The Battle of Adwa which lived up to be the pride of the colored that inspired the Japanese in 1905 and Gen. Giap in 1954 could have been lost disastrously. When I read a revealing incidence that took place amidst the battle of Adwa where Menelik began mulling strategic withdrawal when he saw many of his soldiers being victims of the machine guns of the Italian soldiers, then he was stopped from issuing such orders by his commanders and the leader of the Barentu Oromo horsemen let his cavalry loose on the enemy and the tide suddenly started turning, that is a revelation by itself. It was when one of the sharp lances accurately hurled hit its intended target on the broad chest of the so arrogant General Dabormida who died squealing like a pig. That was a Barentu Oromo well tooled lance. That just killed the morale of the invading army and the rest is history. Those gallant defenders not only defeated one of the most powerful nations but they also brought down the government in Rome who sent the invading army thousands of miles away. Our ancestors took more than 1,500 Italian soldiers(Kin and kits of the SLAVE OWNERS of Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Louisiana, Texas etc..) prisoners. Wait a minute! Wait a minute!!! I am not done yet. They demanded Italy to put its John Hancock on the dotted line acknowledging ‘those colored folks, those Negroes are from now on ‘my equals. Hereby I admit defeat at their black hands’. Ha! Ha! Ha! How about that?! Wait a minute!!! I am not done yet!!! Two of those soldiers were 4 or 5 star generals. Woooooweeeey!!!! That gives me a serious bout of goose bumps ravaging my high mileage body from a runaway pride whenever I read about it. That did not happen out of separation. Tigres did not do it alone and wouldn’t be able to do it alone. In fact they were licked just few soldiers of Baratieri at the battle that took place weeks before the main battle at Adwa. That glorious victory, the Amharas did not do it alone. The Oromo couldn’t have done it alone. The blood that flowed that fateful day was not of the Amharas alone. It was a blend of Amharas, Tigres, Oromos and many others with them. Am I not telling the truth? That is a testament to everything that needs to be done to right the wrongs committed since then. Because the dividends that was supposed to be shared by all participants was not to be so in the decades that followed. Oromos were marginalized. Amharas were marginalized. Tigres were marginalized. Many other ethnic groups were marginalized. That country ended up to be ruled by elites and smart alecs. There cannot be amicable solutions for such ills by doing it alone. It is a freedom for all!!! It is prosperity for all!!! It is the pursuit of happiness for all!!! If someone is telling you otherwise, rest assured that there is an ulterior motive behind that. Once such smart alecs carve out a territory as their own, then they have to ‘protect’ it from ‘hostile neighbors’. That means they will be on constant war footing with everyone around them. That is inevitable and I call history as my witness/irrefutable evidence. March 1st every year has been my proudest day as a black man. So be careful how you talk to this Itu here. Today and tomorrow he is a nigga with a serious bout of an attitude!!!!
