AI alleges Eritrean troops massacred hundreds of civilians in Aksum

Amnesty International claims massacre by Eritrean troops in Aksum. Ethiopian Defense Force this week dismissed the claim that Eritrean troops were deployed in Tigray region of Ethiopia

Amnesty International on Thursday released a report on the situation in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. It alleges that “Eritrean troops’ massacre of hundreds of Axum civilians may amount to crime against humanity.”

According to the report, the massacre took place between November 20-29 2020. Regarding the circumstances of how the alleged massacre happened, Amnesty said that the troops opened fire in the streets and also conducted house to house raids.  Furthermore, it said that it “may amount to a crime against humanity.”

Amnesty International’s claim is based on an interview with 41 survivors and witnesses, and “in-person interviews” with refugees in eastern Sudan who came recently.

“They consistently described extrajudicial executions, indiscriminate shelling and widespread looting after Ethiopian and Eritrean troops led an offensive to take control of the city amid the conflict with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) in mid-November,” said Amnesty International.

Amnesty also cited what it called “Satellite imagery analysis by the organization’s Crisis Evidence Lab” to make claims of “indiscriminate shelling and mass looting, as well as identifies signs of new mass burials near two of the city’s churches.”

Earlier this week, the Ethiopian Defense Force dismissed the claim that Eritrean troops were not in Tigray reiterating that Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) prepared Ethiopian Army uniforms as part of a plan to undertake massacre in the region.

Amnesty International’s report came just a day after the office of Prime Minister released an update about the state of humanitarian assistance work  and human rights situation in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. In the update the Ethiopian government expressed “grave concern” about coordinated misinformation campaigns.

Amnesty International reports have recently been seen as biased, and some Ethiopian activities see a reason for that. Fisseha Tekele, one of Amnesty’s researchers in East Africa, is said to have a partisan interest with TPLF so much so that it is very difficult to expect a neutral report.

On Thursday, Ethiopia’s State of Emergency Task Force released an update about investigation works in Tigray regarding claims of human rights abuse, the Maikadra massacre and attack on the Ethiopian Defense Force – which triggered what the Ethiopian government called law enforcement operation.  It is said that international human rights experts have been working with Ethiopian Human Rights Commission during investigation in the region. According to the task force, Ethiopian government will lay charges against perpetrators of Maikada massacre and attack on the Ethiopian Defense force.

While the statement made a point that sometimes unexpected things happen in a conflict zone, it did not say that there was a massacre by Eritrean troops in Aksum.

QUOTE: ” Amnesty International claims massacre by Eritrean troops in Aksum” UNQUOTE.

    Humble Opinion,
It has been observed and concluded that the so called INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS have proved beyond a shadow of doubt that when it comes to BLACK AFRICANS the politics of playing a game of friction between one African country against another African country, for the IMMORTAL AGENDA, perpetrated behind the ‘screen’.

Africa has no enemy other than the never-ending colonial power in all forms of camouflage, for seemingly time immemorial. The Moto is this: THE RICH CONTINENT of AFRICA MUST BE EXPLOITED TO ITS BONE. And if indiginous African Dictators are ruthless to THEIR OWN people, it is so much the better for colonial powers and to encourage the negative image of the Black African people and, by extension, to the BLACK AFRICAN RACE around the Globe. As one Radio Commentator in a ‘civilized’ country openly put it: “THE RACIAL ISSUE OF BLACK AND WHITE WILL NEVER END.” Full Stop; Period; THE END. .

  2. Ethiopian Human Rights Commission also reports killing of civilians by Eritrean soldiers in Axum… doesn’t seem to me there is a way to deny the presence of Eritrean soldiers in Tigray.

  3. How about this corroborated story of the goons of the TPLF going house to house and handing out condoms to the women? They even told them Eritrean soldiers will come soon and rape them. That was a day or two before the goons started a war on both their own country and the innocent people of Eritrea. This is not told by Jula, Bacha, Alem or Abiy but those among the citizens of Tigray. How come the dysfunctional AI does not even say a word about it?

And there is a story of one of the rape victim. In my mind I don’t question her honesty. I’m 100% convinced that she was sexually assaulted that included rape. Her story was agonizing and I’m still seething with anger about such heinous crime. The story tells how she was raped by Eritrean and Federal soldiers. She then was rescued by Eritrean soldiers who gave her first aid and they handed her over to the Ethiopian soldiers who rushed her to the hospital. She was grateful both to the Eritrean and Ethiopian soldiers. There is no question in my mind that she had noticed the rapists were in Eritrean military uniforms. Let’s not question the veracity of her account but let’s ask the question ‘how could she tell that?’. That is because the uniforms were printed with bold letter. Again let’s not voir dire the victim who has already gone through hell on earth. We should look at how the whole ordeal went down. Eritrean soldiers raped her then Eritrean soldiers rescued her then Ethiopian soldiers pampered her with all the medical care she urgently needed and still needs. There is one quality that has made soldiers of the Ethiopian Defense Forces one of the most sought after by the UN for its peacekeeping missions. It is their discipline. They were in Korea. They were in the Congo and lately they have been on peacekeeping missions in various parts of the globe. They had lost their dear brothers in arms during these missions but never lost their composure. Has there been a single Ethiopian soldier accused of assaulting citizens of the host country during all these missions? Nothing, right? Watch the bigots now! They gonna make up a story!!!

So what I am saying is this. We should take reports by interest groups like Amnesty International with a grain of salt.

    • AI amnesty International can only survive by creating war between me and you i.e. black on black and the can sit and reap the money, time black people not so much Eritrea or Ethiopia all Africa should rise up and spit out this vile entities.

      • I can’t say it any better, brother! Tell’em Tiger! If you have noticed it already, the king of all boring news CNN, has joined the competition! It just discovered that it has been missing the action! I think we may hear from Tweety Bird next! She is the best at it! I tawt I taw a puddy tat! I did, I did taw a puddy tat! A tat an Eritrean soldier kind, that is!

How can I tell an Eritrean and Ethiopian from my people, you may ask? Cuz my people are the non niggaaz race in that region. I and my people are the gold race. Eritreans and Ethiopians are some rusty non gold nigga race. There are everywhere, man! I’m scared witless, dude! I’m gonna call CNN now! And get paid for reporting any news, man!
Eritrean soldiers are coming! Eritrean soldiers are coming! Fire in the hole! Eritrean soldiers are coming!
Ok Ittu we hear you, we hear you! Enough with that!
Leave me alone! I’m talking to CNN!!! I am afraid even to eat food. I’ve not eaten for more than 35 days straight!
How were you able to survive, Ittu?
My main man who is currently in prison taught me how not to die from lack of food. Eritrean soldiers are coming! Eritrean soldiers are coming!!!

  4. Ok everyone! Listen to me now! This is my personal agonizing story. My family and I decided to go to New York on a sightseeing trip. I took us ten hours of non-stop driving to get there. The next day we were strolling on 5th Avenue and marveling at everything we were seeing. Nobody was there except us. Then suddenly this person in a military uniform showed up from nowhere and began ophthalmologically assaulting me. He assaulted me by giving me a murderous stare down until I was disoriented. I noticed that the person was an Eritrean soldier from his military uniform. Right there on 5th Avenue New York. I have called Amnesty International and reported the painful staring assault. They told me it will be in there next press release. Since then I discovered that soldiers from the Eritrean army are also in Canada. They are everywhere, man!!! I’m now afraid even to walk my dogs!!!! They talk about how the rover Perseverance had landed on Mars. Forget about it!!!! Eritrean soldiers were already there last November when the law enforcing campaign began in Tigray. They are everywhere, dude!!! I am afraid even to have a cup of coffee cuz an Eritrean soldier may pop up out of it. I heard they have this teleporting technology to be everywhere in an instant through quantum physics using Max Planck’s hypothesis they only know.
