300 new coronavirus cases have been reported in Ethiopia over the past twenty-four hours.
The Minister for Health, Lia Tadesse, appeared live on the state broadcaster, EBC. She seems to say that the numbers could be deceiving. The spread of Cornavirus is not decreasing in Ethiopia, she warned.

I am sure you noticed the numbers for today coming out of the old country. I am about the scream ‘Victory! Victory!!’ even though it is not over yet. I have been keeping daily numbers from that country since the beginning of May. To be honest with you, I was extremely worried and even scared for those so generous and upright people who produced us all. And then I started thinking about what our ancestors did thousands of years ago. They had played critical roles to save the two major religions that more than 55% of the world population currently professes. I fell down on my knees praying for them. Almighty Our Creator Has Never Forsaken Them and Never Will. And you add to that our over qualified daughter/sister H.E. Dr. Lia bint Tadesse and her very capable team with a naturally heeding population, this is the result. The last time the daily new cases count this low near 300 was last mid July. The recovery rate is bursting thru the roof with today’s number a record 82%. In contrast, the numbers here around us is nothing but grim. I agree with the experts predictions that things will get much worse for weeks and months to come. Many in the population have chosen not to heed the experts’ advice turning into super spreaders by hundreds of thousands which means stores and other gathering places will be more jam packed with those carrying the deadly virus. The vaccine is out there now but it will take months before most of the population can be inoculated. Please don’t let your guard down until then.
But the numbers out of the old country have given me something to celebrate. I’m good now! I’m good for a week now!!! I’m also proposing that nation’s highest honor to our patriotic daughter/sister Dr. Lia and her over achiever team!!! Insha’Allah!!!!
