Ethiopian long distance legend Haile Gebreselassie sees Facebook role in the recent massacre in Oromo region of Ethiopia

The greatest long-distance runner in history Haile Gebre Selassie of Ethiopia disclosed this past week that he is intending to sue the “social media” platform, facebook, over recent massacre in his country which claimed at least 78 lives.
If the Ethiopian government is not filing a lawsuit against the giant the American giant online social media and networking company, says Haile Gebrselassie, “it is likely that I will do it,” as reported by state-affiliated Fana Broadcasting Corporation (FBC).
“People are dying,” he said,
The two times Olympic long-distance Gold medalist believes that Facebook has contributed a lot to the security crisis in the country in recent years.
The latest string of massacre in Oromo region of Ethiopia was triggered after radical Oromo nationalists activist and owner of Oromia media network. Jawar Mohammed, who has over 1.7 million followers on Facebook, wrote a message on facebook in the late night of October 22 accusing the government of endangering his life by removing security details.
“Some may say that they are using Facebook as a tool for struggle and freedom. Yet, it should not lead to unnecessary sacrifice. There should be caution in that regard,” Haile Gebreselassie added.
He wants Ethiopian activists in the country and abroad to weigh the impacts of their messages to their followers. He warned that the use of photo-shopped materials to incite violence will, in the end, bring about a heavy price to whoever is doing it.
He sees media outlets in the country as part of the problem too, and he says that they should exercise caution in their work.
Political situation in Ethiopia seems to be fragile due to decades of ethnic-based politics which, in recent years, has been radicalizing.
Ethnic Oromo radical youth, known in the region as qeerroo, committed atrocities massacring at least 78 people, including children and seniors taking the facebook message from the radical activist, Jawar, as a pretext to do so.

Facebook is not to blame . Neither Facebook nor OMN Jawar Mohammed did lay a finger themselves or transmitted an order to hold attacks on the massacred people.
If anyone is to blame, it is
1. the Ethiopian government judiciary system who left Querro to freely massacre ethnic Amara people for the longest of times by disregarding the outcries.
2.Both the regional and the Ethiopian central government security apparatuses who failed to do their job of protecting it’s citizens due to lack of a commander in chief that is able to command as their duty requires them.
3.Of course the hulligan Querro barbarians who did the killings.
If Haile got any balls AND really belives he can sue, he should sue all the above obvious guilty parties by assisting in documenting or collecting scientific evidences that won’t perish through time.
Atleast he is doing something while you’re sitting on your computer “analyzing” politics.

I reallly Support Oromo People, but if they kill Shoa Oromo this could be the perfect indication of extremisim. They must get rid of this nonsense outlook. I personally love shoa oromo than amhara itself even if I should avoid being biased.
Stop killing any innocent citizens to push forward your tribal hegemeny and superemacy. This what you adopted from western country. Since did and doing whatever they want for thier own interest to the extent of dehumanizing and belittling blacks and other races.

Stick to your profession and you will have your legendary statue for years to come. The AMHARA elite wants us to believe that the killings was one sided and the only people who died were Amharas. In Bale Robe 12 ethnic oromos were slaughtered in their homes and on the street. In total there was around 23 innocent lives lost on both sides. Robe is mostly oromos and of Islamic faith. A great deal of restrain was shown from your so called ” Radical extremists Oromo qeeroos”. I am in not support of any loose of lives and unnecessary property damage. The places of worship from any faith should be protected by the government in times of civil unrest. Their will always be demented individual from both sides who will incite violence and attack each other’s places of worship to create havoc in the country.
Above all else the government needs to be firm on issues of religion. We are heading on a very dangerous path and disintegration of this country is imminent if we continue this way.

I don’t believe for a minute that a Abiy was behind the assassination attempt of Jawar. What possible benefit would he gain would he have except for mass massacre in the country and possible resignation of his government due to civil unrest.
You got to ask yourself who will be real beneficiary from civil unrest in the country. Their are elite out there waiting for a loophole to take power, it doesn’t who is how many dies .

I’ll repeat myself here with what I wrote before.
I would like to say a word or two to all my dear countrymen/women. The old country has gone through so much in its contemporary history particularly since the 1970’s. It had managed to survive one calamity after another to get here. It had one ‘re-defining’ moment in the late 1980’s that culminated in its dramatic change a few years after that. By then the world had made up its mind including its former allies that it had to change. It looks it is facing the same scenario today. There are two leaders competing for legitimacy over the same country. When one is saying yes the other one will soon rebut that with a resounding no. When one says ‘let’s move on’ the other is right there to say ‘No because I have a lot to talk about the past’. When one says the people over there has shown the world how to live in harmony and the other one tells him that the people there were in constant conflict because of virtual colonial oppression. When one tries to attest that at the moment he is the leader but the other one tells him ‘not so fast!!’ When one tells the citizens that some individuals have broken the law, the other one come back telling him ‘So what! Others had broken the laws for many years in the past too. ‘I’m the leader! No you’re not! I’m the real leader and there is nothing, nothing you can do about! You better be careful! You are a sissy and I’m a battle hardened fighter. You wanna do something about it? Step right down and try me. You sissy!!! I have my hommies in your house from top down. It is not like the good ole days. I have the Sebhat’s, Debre’s and all their entourage in my pocket! You are only good as a dead man walking!!! You just saw what fearless fighter did to your books!!!’ This seems to be the reality on the ground in the old country now.
Let’s face it. For all intents and purposes one region has already seceded. Politically there is the ‘Republic of Tigray’ now. Now we should all be prepared to see another undeclared ‘Republic’ very, very soon. The preliminary work has been done already. The administration has been successfully infiltrated and snapped away from the very top all the way to the bottom by those on mission to facilitate the process. I have same feelings today that I had in 1989/90 that the world including the friendly ones had determined that the old country has to go thru fundamental changes. Once again, the rehearsal is going on big time now. The animosity has been allowed to go on to the brink of beyond repair. That was very intentional for a planned excuse in the future. I might have been so naive to expect otherwise. I just want to advise you to prepare yourself. She will be gone as we know her today. The 2nd process is in full swing away from the cameras and watching eyes. A child born today will not know what it looks like now 10-15 years from now. By then thankfully I may not be around to see it all unfolded already.

” Intending to sue” is not doing something.
Example of a law suit would be the case of Mengistu Hailemariam who was sued prosecuted and sentenced in absentia. Maybe Haile is intending to sue Facebook in absentia too.
Personally I think Haile just wants to scare Mo Farah away from trying to go in legal battle with him , this opportunity got Haile more connected to internationaly credible lawyers NOT ONE OF THOSE FAKE LAWYERS ETHIOPIA GOT.
. Mo Farah law suit against Haile about allegations of theft might come up soon and Haile got lawyers he can trust in his corner now .

We all want a better country for our kids and the for the following generation. i have no hate for any particular ethnic group but at the same time i have issues with a group of people who think some how they have divine revelation to control and rule other ethnicities. i hate the so called “Solomonic dynasty”with a passion. They are nothing but corrupt entity using a church to advance their twisted ideology on others. They corrupted the good name of the church too.
i had major issues with woyanes but to be honest the Amhara rule will be a disaster for this country. No one wants to go back to the old system of one country, one religion and one language . The past damage caused by amhara elite to other ethnicities is mind blowing.
My final point is
During the Woyane rule other ethinic group mostly suffered economically but during the Derg and that idiotic solomonic dynasty other people suffered both economically and their culture.
so how we had to speak their language and pray to their God.
