Radical ethnic nationalists move to break up Ethiopian Church in pursuit of forming Oromia Orthodox Church, Ethiopian Church Holy Synod responds to it

A year after Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed made arrangements for divided Ethiopian Holy Synod to reunite after over 25 years of division due to TPLF administration born problem, radical ethnic-Oromo nationalists have started campaign to break up the Ethiopian Church Holy Synod.

Their plan is to establish “Oromia Orthodox Church.” On the surface, an individual who is identified as Kesis Belay is leading the movement. The picture of this man and the radical activist – Jawar Mohammed – together has been seen circulating on social media. And there are speculations that entities behind Jawar Mohammed, local or foreign, are likely behind the movement to break up on of the strengths of Ethiopia – the Ethiopian church – as Prime minister Abiy Ahmed himself said once.

However, the Holy Synod seem to believe that there could be other individuals and groups behind him with a sense of vengeance and hatred against the Ethiopian Church. Some activists and political observers go further and see foreign hands behind this move.

The Ethiopian Church Synod, which held emergency meeting his week, is opposing the move on grounds that it is against the dogma of the church.

And this high ranking body of the Ethiopian church wrote letter to the Ethiopian government encouraging it to stop this illegal movement. So far, the government has not responded officially to the call from the Ethiopian church.

As well, they called on Ethiopians from all walks of life in the country or abroad who are members of the church to vehemently oppose the movement to break up the Ethiopian church.

Prelates within the Ethiopian church believe that the movement will not lead Ethiopia towards peace.

In the video below, Archbishop Abune Yosef talks about the decision of the Holy Synod.

I told you what these bigots will pick up next. Before, they picked the ‘liberation with secession’ card. That turned out to be no dice!!! Then they went for ‘quarantined ethnicity’. That blew up in their face. Then they hopped mad about what other ethnic groups alleged said about them. That also didn’t garner any significant audience. Now, they have decided to go Bin Laden ways but with big crosses on their chests. At the time when that old country, that gem of the colored has made unity its top priority, these bigots have now picked up one of the most dangerous topic, religion. Unless these scoundrels are beaten in their own games, the propaganda side, and doing that with a good dose of patience and creativity their next toy to pick will be within each religion. These hate groups have one common character. They get high fomenting hatred and lethal destruction that come with it. They crave division. They all know that unity is their Achilles heels. They know that. They have gone to some of the most sought after universities where they received their 2nd hand education earning sympathy masters and PHD’s. They know that if those Amharas, Oromos, Tigres, Somalis, Afars and many others are left alone to live in harmony that their days in the spotlight are over. They might have garnered some extra help both financially and logistically. There are quarters that want to see that pride and joy of the colored go asunder. They want to see ‘them abd/niggers’ destroy themselves. Then the talk about a dam here and a dam there will be over. Then the Wahhabis will come in with their deep pockets to found their ‘beloved’ harem colonies.

These bigots and hate groups should be exposed for who they really are. They should be called out and exposed. They should be countered effectively and peacefully.

I support them . They are right. Ethiopian orthodox leaders are now speaking against it since they are going to loose many followers paying money. They are freeloaders.Ethiopian orthodox priets and bishops amass a pile of money and transfer it to thier family. The church is owned by priests and bishops who consider church as thier own private enterprise. You could go and ask ethiopian bank you will hear something unbelievable a clergymen owning morethan 2 Million upto 30 million.

Check it out please. All these money is coming from poor people making thier living by selling firewoods and toasted cereals. The money coming from oromia like Kulibie Gabriel and other churches and Tigray regions (Axum and other monasteries ) is that enriched the Ethiopian Orthodox clergymen.

They were saying it is the amhara people who sponsored us when we were studying at tradtional school (socalled Kolo Temari bet) but in reality it is the whole ethiopian nations and nationalities that helped and contributed to the church including Muslim brothers in Merkato and Wollo region as far as I knew.

During Derge regime, ethiopian orthodox church was swarmed by Gondores and they were corrupted and full of nepotism. Churchmen are always anxious about thier followers quantity just for collecting money and taxes .
Amhara is using te church to numb the rest of nations and nationalities.

This reminds me of meles’s Saying.” The dogs keep barking and the camel keeps going” every one shouts about his personal interest with out seeing the big picture. Those who are intent on breaking up the nation are going about their plan with a very organized and effective strategy. While those who see themselves as unionists and advocates of democracy keep complaining with every issue , usually undermining what they feel they are standing for

Tadle, you sould have told him things in this country are moving forward according to the plan designed by forigners and local facilitaters but very sad and that illustrates the unfair world where human beings had been and still are suffering. I hope all Individuals and groups who born Ethiopians will be aware of the political game and regret about being ignorant about the game.

Too bad y’all are to stupid to understand what is said to you. Tigrayans have been fighting to develop Ethiopia despite corrupt practices and problems while everyone else has been trying to destroy it. We are the only true patriots apparently and considering we are 5 % of the population that is disturbing. Everyone else is controlled by the C.I.A it Mossad or Saudi intelligence.

Well, I for one think it is all about STATE CREATION. A country need to have a a certain institution such as political, military, social & religious in place when declaring its independence. We have :

Oromiya Special Forces, Oromiya Banks, Oromiya Social Services, Oromiya Orthodox Church Which will follow by Oromiya Muslim Council, Oromiya Protestant…… the last two being in line to be victimized next!

If anyone thinks that the independence issue is solved when OPDO came to power, they are mistaken. PM Abyi, Lemma….etc may have been satisfied with equality but the hardliners, their intent is superiority if Ethiopia is to stay as one or else independence. This is the same intent with TPLF.
As for the idea that the intent is to breakup the Ethiopian Orthodox Church because of Jewar’s involvement, maybe. If the hardliners’ intention is independence as I stated earlier, the Ethiopian Muslim should expect that their Mesjid is the next one in-line as we will see ”Oromiya Muslim..”!

    God help us all!

No One can destroy the church. First these people establish many protestant churches in Oromia region and they can NOT succeed and now they want to split the church. That is Impossible.
