General Asaminew Tsige is laid to rest in Lalibela, Amhara region. The government claims that he is behind the incident that described as “coup d’etat” which happened in Bahir Dar, seat of Amhara regional state, on June 22, 2019, around 5 p.m. local time.
But residents of Lalibela and millions of his supporters do not seem to buy government narrative and they tend to see him rather as a hero who stood firm to defend the rights of Amhara.
His son, who is seen in the video below, also says “My father is a hero. He died for Ethiopia.”
