Derartu Tulu elected as vice-president of East African Athletics Region

10,000 meters Olympic Gold Medalist Derartu Tulu is elected as vice-president of East Africa Athletics Region. The Congress that elected Derartu held its meeting at Capital Hotel, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

She is also elected as Board Member of African Athletics Confederation (CAA), according to an update from Ethiopian Athletics Federation.

In mid November 2018, Derartu was named as interim president of Ethiopian Athletics Federation (EAF) following an unexpected resignation of long distance legend Haile Gebreselassie.
