ADDIS ABABA – (BORKENA) – Government forces gunned down “12 unarmed civilians” in extrajudicial killings in the Amhara Region in September 2023, Addis Maleda reported quoting Amhara Association of America (AAA) as saying.

The Amhara Association in America commonly called, ‘Triple A’ said that “the forces of the Abiy regime killed at least 12 unarmed Amhara civilians without trial on September 17, 2023, in Zeret Kebele, Menz-Qaya Wereda, North Shewa Zone of Amhara Region”.

According to Addis Maleda, the killing took place following a fierce fight held between the “regime forces and Fano fighters”.

The age range of the dead is from 18 to 40 years and all the victims were blatantly killed in their villages or where they fled the fighting and took shelter, Addis Maleda said.

The association vehemently condemned the “regime forces” for the illicit acts perpetrated against the Amhara civilians. To date Amhara elderly people, women and children have been flogged, robbed and killed by the government forces, according to information obtained from ‘Triple A’.
