ADDIS ABABA – (BORKENA) – The leaders and members of the Gumz People’s Democratic Movement and the Benishangul People’s Freedom Movement have been arrested, the political parties disclosed.
The Justice Bureau of Benishangul-Gumuz Region has confirmed that though there are individuals who have been arrested on suspicion of criminal activity, no complaints have so far been filed from the two parties, their members and their leaders, VoA, the Amharic service reported yesterday.
On the other hand, the Bureau announced that there are individuals whose cases are under investigation by the Federal Ministry of Justice.
Meanwhile, sources indicate that with possible upcoming steps to be taken by the federal government to shift its forces from Amhara Region to the eastern part of the country, preparations are underway to deploy to Amhara Region the fighters of Gumz People’s Democratic Movement and the special force of the Oromia Region.
