Ministry of Education banns transfer of students from private to government higher learning institutions

ADDIS ABABA – (BORKENA) –The Ministry of Education, made official in a letter addressed to all public universities and private higher learning institutions last Friday, 20 October 2023 that transfer of students from private institutions to the government institution is not allowed. 

The Ministry also said that  students who pursued the remedial school program in the last Ethiopian academic year and scored 50 percent or above should take the Freshman university courses.

As stated in the official letter of the Ministry, students:

  • can transfer from government higher learning institutions to private higher learning institutions;
  • Can also do their transfer from one private higher learning institution to another private higher learning institution.
  • But the Ministry of Education has made it official that any transfer from a private higher learning institution to a government higher learning institution is not allowed and students cannot pursue their education through such transfer.

The Ministry of Education indicated in its official letter that students who desire to transfer from a higher learning institution to another have the right to possess their properly organised documents.
