Unveiling Tragedy: The Amhara People’s Struggle Under Abiy Ahmed’s Tyrannical Regime in Ethiopia

Amhara-Fano-Ethiopia

Aster Michael

In the ancient land of Ethiopia, a nation known for its rich history and diverse cultures, a dark cloud has descended upon the Amhara people. As the world watches the unfolding tragedy, it becomes evident that the Amhara population, one of Ethiopia’s oldest and proudest communities, is suffering under the oppressive rule of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his Prosperity Party.

The over 45 Million Amhara people, who have contributed significantly to Ethiopia’s political, cultural heritage and history, find themselves facing a series of atrocities that demand global attention and intervention. The Fano resistance, a grassroots movement born from the Amhara people’s desperation, is a symbol of their resistance against tyranny.

Ethnic Cleansing and Genocide in Wollega, Oromia Region:

The Amhara populace has been ensnared in a nightmarish web of ethnic cleansing and genocide within the Welega region, where extremist Oromo factions have unleashed a torrent of violence.

Innocent Amhara civilians endure brutal targeting and massacres, their lives fragmented by the specter of ethnic brutality. As of June 2023, regional government data confirms a staggering 580,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) scattered across 15 woredas/districts in Amhara.

Selective Amhara Ethnic Cleansing in the Capital:

A sinister plot unfurls as the administration of the capital city, steered by the Prosperity Party’s OPDO Oromo faction, embarks on a crusade to displace Amhara residents from the city and its environs, a campaign aimed at altering the capital’s demographic landscape. Homes are razed, leaving them bereft and homeless, a haunting reminder of displacement tactics harkening back to history’s darkest epochs.

Declaration of War on Amhara Region:

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government has declared open hostilities against the Amhara region, ostensibly to disarm Amhara special forces and Fano civilian militias. This ominous declaration has spiraled into a vortex of violence and instability, exacerbating the anguish of the Amhara people.

Arbitrary Arrests of Amhara Politicians, Journalists, and Activists:

Dissent and opposition are met with ruthless suppression, as Amhara politicians, journalists, and activists who dare to voice their dissent against these injustices are arbitrarily incarcerated, rendering a bleak tableau of eroding democracy and stifled freedom of expression.

Concentration Camps without Due Process:

Shockingly, the Ethiopian government has rounded up over 100,000 Amhara individuals and herded them into concentration camps without due process, a flagrant violation of human rights that evokes harrowing  recollections of history’s darkest episodes.

Systematic Intimidation and Abuse:

Under Abiy Ahmed’s rule, a police state has metastasized in Ethiopia, casting a pall of perpetual fear over Amhara citizens. They grapple with systemic intimidation, abuse, and capricious detentions by security forces operating beyond the boundaries of the judicial system, dismantling the pillars of justice and the foundations of an equitable society.

The plight of the Amhara people under Ethiopia’s current administration should elicit profound concern from the international community. The world must coalesce in condemnation of these heinous atrocities and issue an urgent call for action to alleviate the agony afflicting the Amhara population.

Ethiopia’s rich heritage, vibrant culture, and aspirations for a brighter tomorrow hang precariously in the balance. It is our moral imperative to stand in unwavering solidarity with the Amhara people and labor tirelessly toward a more inclusive, just, peaceful, and democratic Ethiopia. The time for action is upon us.

  1. Adanech’s Addis Abeba [AA]: She is transforming AA from “World’s Open-Sky Public Toilet Shantytown” to “World’s World-Class Clean & Prosperous Diplomatic Capital.”

1). Land & Building Permits are mandatory. Adanech exposed >300 unclaimed buildings & villas! That & her Oromo ancestry subjected her to Hate Crime & Smear Campaign!

2). Of ≈6 million residents, ≥3 million are Amaras with Resident ID, Land Permit, etc. Amaras also make ≥60% of the AA work force. So, ‘Oromizing’ AA takes >3 million Oromos. Good Luck with their housing!

3). In Aug-Sept 2023, ≈9000 got homes [1,686 apartments]: youtu.be/iPS6piWy8Jk?t=3 Over 50,000 such residents also get ≥2 free meals a day at their 19 Community Centers.

4). ≥800,000 AA kids get ≥2 free meals a day at their schools [plus school supplies]. So, it gives ≥1.6 million AA parents peace of mind. [NB: >3 million Amaras live in AA].

5). Capacity of bakeries shot from 300,000 bread per day 5 years ago to 5 million in the last 2 years! The Injera Factory is making ≈400,000 injeras per day →jobs for mothers.

    6). 100 municipal projects [72 schools & 28 clinics], 5000 government projects, and 1000 public-private projects completed last Ethiopian year: youtu.be/RHmr7RAWMs4?t=1

7). Two of the 5 giant Direct Farmer-Consumer Shopping Centers are already in service.
8). Twelve of the 18 Open-Sky Children-Friendly Sports Facilities are already in service.
9). Asphalt road coverage doubled in just the last 5 years: youtu.be/ZyyOfDTf8eI?t=238

  2. Addendum-1:

1). On “45 million Amaras in Ethiopia”: What happened to honesty & personal integrity? The CIA’s Fact Book [Sept. 5, 2023] puts Ethiopia’s population at 116.5 million & Amaras at 24.1% [≈28 million]: cia.gov/the-world-factbook/countries/ethiopia/#people-and-society

2). More Amaras Live in Oromo Zone [OZ] than in the Amara Zone [AZ]: In his 2019 interview [youtu.be/0HjNFtaav14?t=2318], Christian said: “>15 million Amaras live in OZ.” Top that up with the >3 million Amaras in Addis and millions more in other Zones.

3). On “Ethnic Cleansing & Genocide in Wollega”: Wollega is ≈20% of OZ & ≈2% of the 15 million Amaras in OZ live there! So, ≈98% in OZ live in peace! Alas, Wollega Oromos are killed by ኦነግ ሸኔ & አማራ ሸኔ [APF-Fanno (APFF)]: youtu.be/07zObPwWPrA?t=291

4). NO Oromo lives in AZ: I used to travel to Gojjam & Gonder [G&G] and I saw/met no Oromo. Major Dawit [APFF Leader] cleared that up: “Amaras cleansed Oromos from AZ long ago!” youtu.be/lY-Ky4jJNKo?t=149 [PS: Ethiopians are UNWELCOME in G&G].

  3. Addendum-2

1). Abiy was OLF/IFLO/OLA’s [ኦነግ ሸኔ’s] first assassination target. His refusal to sell Ethiopia to the Pro-TPLF Egypt & White Supremacist West [WSW] sparked the WSW’s embargo. Yet, despite that & this youtu.be/Pg3WuF1eXww?t=5 , he kept Ethiopia afloat.

2). Fannos vs. Proxy Putschist Amara Domestic Terrorists [PPADT]: Fannos are Army’s Apolitical Backups. Not Politicians! Not Ethnic Putschists! The APFF led by the Amara Supremacy Putschist Quartet [ASPQ: Zemene+Eskinder+Mihret+Mesafint] are PPADT.

3). On “Declaration of War on Amhara Region”: US/EU/AU monitored the last election. Democratically Elected Amara Officials [DEAO] formed Amara Government. PPADT went on DEAO Murder Spree, put on APFF Hat, and launched this Proxy War in the AZ.

4). On “Arbitrary Arrests of Amhara Politicians, Journalists, and Activists”: The ASPQ murdered DEAO. Murder is Capital Crime! Aiding & Abetting Criminals is Obstruction of Justice [OJ]. So, any ASPQ accomplice should be detained and prosecuted for OJ.

5). Crimes against Humanity [CAH] & Human Rights Violations [HRV]: Using Children & Civilians [C&C] as Human Shields & Cannon Fodder [HS & CF] are CAH & HRV. ASPQ have been using C&C as HS&CF. So, they should stand trial for CAH & HRV.

6). Absence of Witness Protection Program [AWPP]: Due to AWPP, the ASPQ terrorized witnesses & dodged justice for previous CAH & HRV. That emboldened them to launch this war! So, they count on naïve Amaras + Egypt + WSW to continue bleeding Ethiopia.
