Ethiopia’s ethnic groups have been under attack by Oromumma extremist forces since Abiy Ahmed usurped power following the collapse of the TPLF vicious rule through a popular uprising. The genocidal violence against Amharas in the Oromia, Gumuz and other regions; the interminable attacks against the people of Somali, Wolaytta, Sidama, Gmabella and Afar; the encirclement of Addis Ababa; and the recent crackdown against the Guraghe zone are testimonies of the brutality of the Oromumma campaign of ethnic cleansing, extermination, and expansion. Having instigated a devastatingly horrific fratricidal war between the brotherly people of Tigrai and Amhara, Abiy Ahmed has now embarked on a sinister ploy of disarming the various regions to incapacitate them from defending themselves against further attacks and subjugation.
Vision Ethiopia. an independent and non-partisan association of Ethiopian scholars and professionals, has organized this webinar with a view to creating a forum for speakers from the various ethnic groups in Ethiopia to assess the need to forge a strong coalition against the ongoing Oromumma onslaught. We encourage all those who stand for justice, peace, and democracy to join the dialogue and help formulate a viable path forward to ward off the imminent catastrophe.
