ADDIS ABABA – (BORKENA) – British Freelance writer and charity worker said that the Amhara people, the second (?) largest ethnic group in the country, have been betrayed, prosecuted and ignored by the incumbent government and by extremist politicians in today’s Ethiopia. In an article he wrote three days back, Graham Peebles said that the ideology of division and intolerance has filled mainstream politics and poisoned societies. The renowned writer said that, “tribal nationalism, hate and prejudice are widespread; animosity and suspicion toward ‘the other’ [are] commonplace”.
Peebles noted in his article that in Ethiopia, this vile and fear based stands or positions appear to “have become government policy”. He openly exposed how the regime cornered the large ethnic group, Amhara, as enemies. He said, “the focus of the regime’s enmity is the Amhara people”. After clarifying how this enmity has been revealed through publicly orchestrated attacks in various parts of the country, Peebles said that the acts were given “approval, perhaps active participation, of the government”. The silence of the incumbent government during the mass arrest, killings, and displacements of the Amhara people shows its consent to the illicit acts being perpetrated against the people, according to Peebles.
“…Tens of thousands of Amhara civilians have been killed, thousands of homes destroyed on the outskirts of the capital Addis Ababa…, hundreds of thousands displaced (Ethiopia has around 5.6 million internally displaced people according to the UN). Anyone talking about the violence, journalists, human rights workers, lawyers or students, run the risk of arrest….”
Why are these people doing this act of cleansing Amharas from Oromia? Peebles says that “Ethnic cleansing of Oromia is part of an OLF plan to create an independent Oromo nation (Oromia for the Oromo people), and reduce the overall number of Amhara in the country”.
To realize their dream of having an “independent Oromo nation”, they need to disarm and subject the Amhara people to their imposition. That is why they were determined to dissolve the Amhara Special Force (ASF) under the cover of integrating it into the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF). They do this, “…to leave the Amhara Region vulnerable to attack; whether from the TPLF in the North or the OLF/OLA to the South,” according to Graham Peebles.
Peebles has also tweeted regarding the disarmament issue of ASF that, “breaking up the ASF, while leaving TPLF and OLF/A armed to the teeth would leave Amhara people completely vulnerable to attack, which is the plan of course. It is part of an overall plan rooted in hate and tribal nationalism and it must be resisted totally”.
Today the ENDF has been deployed extensively in the Amhara Region to disarm the people in general and the ASF in particular. Many believe that the move being made by ENDF is a mischievous one. “…This malicious move has been seen by the Amhara community as an invasion of the region by the ENDF, acting in collaboration with the OLF/OLA and TPLF,” according to Peebles. While doing this malicious act of disarming Amhara, the government has been reluctant to disarm and defeat TPLF and OLF forces that are creating chaos in that country.
Graham Peebles is of the opinion that the outside world should stop this madness. Many expressed fear that such moves of the ENDF can be a cause for civil war in the country. Peebles also asked why the foreign powers do not call for the assault on the Amhara people to stop and perpetrators be brought to justice…This makes Amhara to be betrayed and ignored, according to Peebles.
However, Peebles said at length that the intervention from western governments does not offer hope of peace and social harmony. The source of hope according to him is the people of Ethiopia. “It is the coming together of people from the various tribal/ethnic groups scattered throughout Ethiopia, uniting against division, duplicity and hate, that offers the greatest hope of peace and social harmony, not external intervention.”

Maybe abiy and jula may succeed in disarming Fano and all Amhara units and finally declaring the region persona non grata. End of story – a project which began 500 years ago finally concludes as originally planned. Meanwhile, the onus is on the Amhara who are colluding with oromo tribalists in this drama of the century. The cloud of confusion sowed by the agnostic group is unbelievably powerful- you just don’t see the bullet coming in your direction!
Graham Peebles has succinctly and effectively summarized the state sponsored attack, massacre and displacement of the Amhara under the Abiy regime. Abiy and his criminal PP Oromumma cadres, members and sycophants are criminals who should be held accountable before the law. The Abiy regime does not want and will not allow the supremacy of the law to be put in practice because that will ensue the prosecution of himself, his OLF buddies ,including Shimeles Abdissa, Adanech Abebe etc now masquerading as regional president and mayor etc, joining Abiy in prison.
Now that the tribalistic and Oromumma agenda of Abiy himself has been clearly and publicly admitted by Abiy himself, there should be no doubt about what Ethiopia needs from Ethiopians.

Your esteemed and admired website seemed to be inactive for several days recently. You wouldn’t even start to imagine how worried this high mileage beyond-repair Afro/Ethio-centric was during those lull days. I hope all is well with you and blessed family. At one time I even got an error message telling me your website was not available anymore. That was depressing to say at least. What a relief it is to see your much beloved website rolling in glory again. I never felt as safe as I do on this platform because I know you have been protecting this Ethio junky old man from faceless trolls and eyal-alsouqs who get high from hurling insults at people they don’t even know. Now I am in the pink dancing in the streets, on those 80,000+ miles legs, you know.

I’m glad to hear that you are back in the region of your heritage. Please politely extend my warm greetings with all the love I have to those upright and noble of that part of the region. The have gone and still going through unimaginable death and destruction from Kamisse all the way to the borders with Eritrea due to stupid war started by certified stupid individuals. I am confident in the capability of those glorious people to pick up the pieces and rebuild their towns and villages. There is no question in my mind about that. All of us in the Diaspora should pitch in the last penny at our disposal to help those innocent people in their monumental effort to pick themselves up out of the abyss of all the utter destruction around them. We should all refrain from spewing around inflammatory writings and utterances from our safe and comfy domiciles here in the Diaspora. 2). Amaras & ‘Oromo State [OS]’: Would ≥15 million Amaras live in OS and still flock to OS if Oromos were so hostile? Do 15 million Amaras live in Amara State [AS] itself?
3). Amaras & Ethiopia: Most Amaras live outside AS [≥15 million in OS; ≥3 million in Addis; ≥3 million in the other ethnic states] & ≈90% are from Gojjam & Gonder [G&G].

5). Amaras/Wollega/OLF-OLA: Wollega makes ≤20% of OS. Amaras in Wollega make only ≤2% of the ≥15 million in OS. So, ≈98% of Amaras live in peace-&-harmony in OS.

8). Much Ado about Amara Special Forces [ASF]: Why didn’t the ASF stop TPLF from massacring ≥600 Amaras at May-Kadra, taking Dessie, and advancing till Debre-Birhan?

I would say yes. So his simple option amounts to little to most of us. As for talenrance for others,, I heard that three regions most intolerant for Ethiopians to work or even to live are Amhara region, Tigrai and recently the Oromia and in the said order. There was a story few years back where a Somali guy imployed by international organization as simple drivers was transferred to AR and in Baher Dar particular and then was denied his imployement rights because he was not qualified to work there and the main excuse? His residence period wasn’t enough to keep the job and something BS like that. Can uou imagine that? He simply left his job and went back to his region where thousands from the other side were flogging for work opportunity and tens of thousands of others live there for generations and work with no prerequisite conditions.
