The Ethiopian Parliament on Tuesday revoked the immunity of one of its members. A statement released by the parliament indicated that the decision came after the Ministry of Health requested the House to do so in connection with allegations of corruption.
Dr. Chala Wata is said to have been involved in corruption when he was the president of Bule Hora University.
The Ministry of Justice made claims that Dr. Chala misappropriated money by way of ordering procurement , by passing government procedures, for which over payment was made.
The statement from the parliament said millions of Ethiopian birr was deposited to his account and a residential building under his spouse’s name was discovered. It is said to be a ground plus three story building.
Mr. Chala defended himself with the hope of reversing the decision to revoke his parliamentary immunity – which was not a success.
DW Amharic reported that the Federal Audit Bureau was involved in the investigation.
Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for law and justice affairs, Etsegenet Mengistu, is cited as saying adequate evidence suggesting that the scandal did happen is available.
While admitting that the action was taken, Dr. Chala Wata claimed that it was due to the situation caused by the Coronavirus pandemic and the issue could be investigated.

I told you, I told you! What did I tell you about all of these individuals especially the ones are supposed to be well educated and pushing the ethnicity cards. This one could be one of them. He is now saying that the accusations against him are politically motivated. But the evidence presented by the prosecutors is overwhelming. It was the same scheme others were using during the years between 1991 and 2018. They inflate prices on items they purchase goods intended for public use and pocket the difference. They used that to buy expensive real estate and and open fat bank accounts overseas. Most of these smart alecks are openly and discreetly bigots. They are predatory pathogens that have descended upon rather honest and harmonious people. They are reportedly present mainly in Oromia, Amhara and Tigray regions. They should be weeded it out in a court of law.

Have you noticed all their arguments and narratives, and such all gravitate to and centered around “Money”, they care-not about Freedom, Honor, and Valor…???
That is why the Hate Emperor Menelik II, and ADWA victory; but they admire colonial Britain so much, they adopted English-alphabet for their Oromo, sidelining Amharic-alphabets which is more superior & sophisticated in its structure & idea expression than any other.
But again what do they know, they just started reading and writing during Emperor Hailee Selassie I era of school expansion, within the last 80 years.
