France chipped in €32 million for the reconstruction in Afar, Amhara and Tigray regions

Annalena Baerbock, Germany’s Minister for foreign Affairs, and her French counterpart, Catherine Colonna, were in Addis Ababa this week on an official working trip.
Their visit came just a day after Chinese new Foreign Minister, Qin Gang, visited the country in a move to enhance the depth and breadth of cooperation with the Ethiopian government.
Annalena Baerbock tweeted about the purpose of the joint trip to Ethiopia. The purpose was to learn about ways of “supporting” Ethiopia and ensuring accountability for human rights abuses during the course of the war with the TPLF.
She said, ” In Ethiopia with @MinColonna to do three things: explore with authorities on how to support the country on its way to lasting peace and accountability for human rights abuses, discuss food security at the Horn of Africa & strengthen Europe’s partnership with the AU.”
French Foreign Affairs Catherine Collonna endorsed the message by retweeting the message in French. Both countries are EU members and the EU has been putting immense pressure, including by sanctions, against Ethiopia during the war with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).
After the reception ceremony, there was a triangular table meeting in Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s office.
He said, “Today I have met with Catherine Collonna, France’s Minister for Europe & Foreign Affairs and Annalena Baerbock, Germany’s Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs. Our in-depth & fruitful discussions are reflective of the strong relations Ethiopia holds with both France and Germany.”
They also met with Demeke Mekonnen, Ethiopian counterpart and Deputy Prime Minister. They tend to think that the peace situation in the country is promising.
The two ministers have reportedly called on accountability on the reported human rights violation.
The French Foreign Affairs Minister seems to think that the visit was “useful.” An English translation of her tweet in French reads “A useful visit to show European support for the implementation of the peace agreement. A call to all Ethiopians to seize the dividends of peace. Goodbye Ethiopian friends. We are by your side.”
Before concluding her visit, she announced a €32 million financial support which is to be spent on food security and productivity projects in the war affected areas – Afar, Amhara and Tigray.
During the height of diplomatic and political pressure against Ethiopia, politicized Ethiopians that are active on social media demonstrated a tendency towards the view that the European Union was in a mission to rescue the TPLF – the entity that caused the war – under the guise of human rights activism.
Now some Ethiopians, like Gezaw Legese who is an analyst with EMS, seem to think that the visit of the two foreign ministers demonstrates that Ethiopia has proved to be relevant.
On the other hand there are vocal critics of Ethiopia, and supporter of TPLF, like Rene LeFort describe the visit as “The carrot after a very soft stick”
Mr. Rene Lefort said “After the visit of the German and French foreign ministers, it’s clear that Berlin and Paris, and with them a lot of other European Union countries, find that the peace process is promising enough to restart their cooperation with Addis…”

Now peace seems to be firmly on the ground in Tigray, Afar and Amhara regions. It is still very tender and foolishness must be avoided. Misinformations and misrepresentations have been buzzing around like a swarm of aggravated bees since the signing of the peace agreement. The demand regarding human rights violations is understandable and it was true that extrajudicial killings and raping of our women had happened. The fact is such gross human rights violations were not ordered by the leaders but they were carried out by foot soldiers of all sides. In situations in which emotions run high where normal flow of everyday life have completely departed the instincts of normal men goes into the uncharted territory of brutality and savagery. But that does not mean such violators should not be held accountable. When a prisoner is murdered he died only once but when a woman is violently raped she dies everyday of her lifetime. Both are serious crime. I expect evidence of such violations are being documented by EHRC and its UN colleagues and should be used to give victims their deserved days in court of law when peace is assuredly on the ground. From this and other news reports, it is my impression that both sides(the two European foreign ministers and Ethiopian officials) are on the same wavelength on this issue. God Speed!!!
The White Supremacist West [WSW] has never been Ethiopia’s ally! They were just there to deliver a To-Do List & look for any excuse to delay their already years old ‘aid’.
Well, Ethiopia needs the WSW’s technology! To get their technology, Ethiopia needs the WSW’s currency. Alas, they devalued the Birr to naught & made it hard to acquire.
So, it’s high time that Ethiopia concentrated on self-sufficiency in food, fuel, etc. and ramped-up trade ties with non-WSW loyalist countries whose exchange rates are fairer.
NB: The Ethiopian Airlines is as much an asset as it’s a liability. So, it should scale-down its dependence on the WSW’s planes/airports/etc. and chart future partners/allies wisely.
France was one of the ring-leaders along with the US, warning its citizens to leave Ethiopia, as the US /UK/EU supported and armed terrorist groups were “heading to capture the capital”, the PM had to go to the front line to defeat them all (rebel + US/UK/EU).
Here they are a year later pretending to be “our friends”, because what they conspired against us did not happen.

Its a victory lap for the PM & Ethiopia, our enemies do understand that we will not be pushed around, never did & never will.
Ethiopia as the host of the AU & UN it is a vital state for both the East & the the West, in the emerging “multipolar-world”; that why they were here with their tails between their legs.
Ethiopia need to solidify its SOFT-power by eliminating the “Foreign aid” they use to walk all over us, once and for all as soon as possible. To accomplish that we need to accelerated modern-agriculture practices assisted by expanded irrigation-system as well as water-pipeline from water-rich areas to water-poor areas by constructing “water reservoirs” connected with pipelines to transport water.
“Aid”:
Aid is not a benefit to the recipients countries, it is rather a leash the West uses to kill local- agriculture & food-self-sufficiency in the developing-world (“3rd W.”). While propping and subsidizing their won farmers to the tune of billions of $$$.

Fano should be dismantled and its leadersmust be brought to justice . It is aggregates of murderers , rapists and robbers. Some of Fano members are HIV postive .Many amhara people are crying and giving testimony about the horrendous crimes committed by Fanos.
You are confusing patriotic Fanno, the well disciplined protector or innocents and Ethiopia with the Godless, coward Oromo Shene Savages that indiscriminately massacre infants, and innocent Amhara people in Oromia zone. Thos savages include the Oromo PP. Shimeles Adissa and the one it calls itself Ethiopians Government lead by Abiy Ahmed.
France, Germany and the SILENT WORLD must call for accountability on Human Rights abuse during and after the war by Tigray rebels and the Oromo Shene sponsored by Abiy Government in Wellaga against Amhara people. Amharas are being slaughter, raped, looted and displaced everyday up until now.
Now the Slaughter is underway and planned to continue by Orommuma PP Ethiopian government to Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa, Somalia, South and to every NON-Oromia people step by step.
