A day after the CNN published stories alleging that Ethiopian Airlines transported weapons to the Eritrean ports of Massawa from Addis Ababa in November 2020, Ethiopian Airlines reacted.
In a statement released on Thursday, it dismissed the allegation. Also, Ethiopian airlines called on the CNN to correct distorted reported it published.

Ethiopian Airlines strongly refutes the recent allegations by CNN regarding the airlines’ involvement in transporting weapons.
Ethiopian Airlines is a multi-award-winning global airline which is one of the senior members of IATA and member of Star Alliance for a decade, and which has been providing safe and reliable air transport service to the continent of Africa and the rest of the world for the last 75 years and that has been commended for its humanitarian and commercial operations in good and bad times. Accordingly, Ethiopian Airlines strictly complies with all National, regional and International aviation related regulations.
Hence, Ethiopian Airlines strongly refutes the recent allegations by CNN and would like to confirm that to the best of its knowledge and its records, it has not transported any war armament in any of its routes by any of its Aircraft. The mentioned air waybills in the CNN article clearly show that the nature of goods transported on the alleged flights was “Food stuff and Refill” as declared on the document as per IATA standards. The alleged pictures are not known to Ethiopian Airlines.
We would also like to confirm that we don’t have any employee suspended or terminated due to their ethnic background. There is no employee in Ethiopian Airlines suspended or terminated from our payroll due to their ethnic background. This can be verified from our Human Resources records.

Ethiopian airlines cannot and is not in a position to bend teh truth and change the reality on the ground and history that has already been documented , but it is possible to bribe a goverment bodies or giant orgnizations to help it look innocent . It must be clear that trying to conceal what ethiopian airlines had committed and now committing is teasing and foooling onself since history cannot be undone or deleted like a google search. Ethiopian airlines executive staff members and the ruling party cadres already left a damage to the people of Tigray and Oromia that cannot be forgotten and hidden.
