Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, September 8, 2021—Today, the United States through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), donated 46 cutting-edge tuberculosis (TB) testing machines – worth $1 million – to the people of Ethiopia. These new machines will reduce the time it takes to diagnose TB across the country from two days to two hours. These new machines are called GeneXpert Tuberculosis Diagnostic Machines and were handed over by U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia, Geeta Pasi, to the honorable Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Tadesse, at the Ethiopian Pharmaceuticals Supply Agency Compound.
“As longstanding partners of the Ethiopian people, the American people are proud of this enormous step toward eliminating tuberculosis in Ethiopia once and for all,” said Ambassador Pasi.
TB currently kills 24,000 people per year in Ethiopia, which amounts to nearly 3 deaths every hour. But TB is both a treatable and preventable illness, and USAID is working in partnership with the Ethiopian people and the Federal Ministry of Health to eliminate this infectious scourge as fast as possible.
Today’s forty-six (46) machines are part of USAID’s commitment to supporting the people of Ethiopia to find and successfully treat ninety percent of TB cases nationwide—the first step to eliminating the disease all together. Today, epidemiologists estimate that there are roughly 160,000 cases of TB across Ethiopia. In addition to reducing the time it takes to diagnose TB from two days to two hours, the 46 new machines are also more accurate than routine, microscope-based methods.
In September 2019, USAID signed a statement of partnership agreement with the Federal Ministry of Health to accelerate our joint effort to end TB. This event showcases that partnership.
Today’s donation of cutting-edge tuberculosis (TB) testing machines is just a part of the United States’ investment of over $4.2 billion in development aid in the last 5 years alone. Together, the United States is helping millions of Ethiopians lift themselves out of poverty and is supporting their health and wellness for a brighter future.

This is Good Ole USA at its best as always!!! Once more this kindness shows USA is still a land of philanthropists. Ask those two despots in Moscow and Beijing to top that!!! You will get endless supply of AK47”s, BRG’s and expensive Migs and SU-29’s at tens of millions in US dollars apiece instead so you black folks can continue killing each other to extinction. There is nothing and absolutely nothing to emulate from these two goons. Those of us who had been to Mainland China from the early 1980’s thru the early 2000’s on business we know how things were even in Guangdong. I can boldly say this. Without US advanced consumerism, commies in Beijing would not have the trillion dollars worth of GDP they brag about it now. None whatsoever!!! Despot Xi is not that dumb and knows this reality very well. It is all bluffing. The foundation to make Commie China the factory of the world was laid down on February 17, 1972 by Nixon. The rest, as they say, is history. Wait a minute before I forget. There is one thing I would like my old country to do what Mao and his despot successors have done since that fateful day in 1972. Stay with Good Ole USA in good terms. Once Khrushchev was quoted to have told the West democracies in the 1950’s ‘We will bury you. Your grandchildren will all be communists’. Well, well, well!!! It is 2021 and who is still standing with its red, white and blue waving high over his grave? You know the answer unless you choose to tell lies after lies. Nuff said about that!!!!
It’s unfortunate that the great nation of ETHIOPIA and the populous has become a damping-ground of US’s garbage and an experimental pygmies of white supremacist and racist American government.
