Ethiopia and Russia on Wednesday held the 11th round of regular military technical cooperation in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
Apart from Russian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Yevgeny Terekhin, Russian officials working in the Defense Technical Cooperation deputy director, Puchunik Anatoly, and experts have attended it. From Ethiopia, State Minister for Finance Sector in the Ministry of Defense, Marta Luigi, and other senior officials have attended it.
Specifics of the discussion are not revealed in the report by state media. What the state owned media, Ethiopian News Agency, said is that the meeting agenda from the 10th regular session was approved.
The focus of the meeting is said to be enhancing military technology, skills and knowledge. Ways of enhancing defense industry and aviation was among issues discussed at the meeting.
The two countries have well over 125 years of diplomatic relations and there has been cooperation in diplomatic, military, economic and political areas.
Last month, Demeke Mekonen led a delegation to Moscow to meet with Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov.
The talk was about cooperation between the two countries in a range of areas, including in the economic area.
Russia has been supporting African Union led negotiations over GERD, the law enforcement operation in the Tigray region of Ethiopia and Ethiopia’s sixth general election.
