A citizen report emerging on social media accuses Somali Special forces of launching an attack against Afar pastoralists on Friday. The attack reportedly happened in Adaytu, Andufo and Gedamaytu.

Deélewaan Baxâ says at least 30 people are killed and 73 others wounded.

Ethiopian state media did not cover it. The Afar Regional State Communication Affairs Office did not release a statement regarding the incident either.

No statement from the Somali regional state either.

Borkena tried to reach out to the region’s communication office and Somali regional state communication office, but the phone was not answered.

Kontie Moussa, an official from Afar People’s Party, condemned the attack in a social media post.  He said :

“We strongly condemn atrocities committed by #Somali Special Forces on #Afar pastoralists yesterday. More than 30 killed, & more than 73 wounded.  Stop human suffering taking place everywhere in #Ethiopia. Come back to your sense & basic values! #Ethiopia is bleeding. Enough!!!!”
