Doctors at Selam Hospital in Dilla town, South Ethiopia, surgically removed 26 kilograms of tumor from a woman whose name is undisclosed.
The 40 years old woman — who is said to have three children — visited the hospital with complaints of abdominal swelling. Doctors found out that it was actually a tumor from uterus to abdomen.
Ethiopian News Agency report cited Dr. Getachew Mergia, who performed the surgery, as saying that it only took half an hour to remove the tumor.
And the patient is said to be in a stable condition. However, the doctor is cited as saying that she needs a follow-up treatment to diagnose the causes of the tumor.
According to the report, the woman, who is said to be a resident of Hanbala Wama district of Guji zone, has been pursuing traditional medicine for about four years without success.
The swelling was getting worse recently to the point that she was feeling tired very often. Her mobility was also impacted, one of her sons told Ethiopian News Agency.

Yes, in Ethiopia, in an unknown Dila town, South Ethiopia!!! It is simply heart warming news. Perhaps it is only to me — old person of different era — where Ethiopia was a backward country, regardless of its ancient regal history, Governed by Emperorship, King of Kings, descendent of the Tribe of Judah.
And so, I salute Dr. Getachew Mergia and his partners, who performed the surgery to success. Indeed, Ethiopia has traversed a long way. I wish it a great success in Socioeconomic endevour and be a symbol of true FREEDOM and LIBERTY in our battered, colonized, and dragged into backwardness DEAR BLACK AFRICA. We have been manipulated and thrown into a “SHITHOLE” that the present President of the United States of America labelled our AFRICA. By the way, an African President, with a Ph D Degree, OPENLY and FULLY agreed with that label. THE END
