Africa’s first women Olympic gold medalist, Ethiopia’s Derartu Tulu is elected again as the president of Ethiopian Athletics Federation.
Twenty-seven out of twenty-eight members of the Federation voted for her. It means that she will be leading the Federation for the next four years.
She has been serving as vice-president for the past two years. Her priority is expected to be preparing team Ethiopia for the Tokyo Olympic which was postponed to 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation.

I remember it like yesterday when this gallant and patriot won gold at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. When I saw her and that South African runner who was the favorite to win the gold taking the victory lap together I couldn’t help but cry like a baby, man. All glory to Patriot Derertu!!!! Congratulations sister!!!!
