A Higher court in East Harar, South-Eastern part of Ethiopia, sentenced a suspected human trafficker, who is said to be responsible for the death of five women, to death.
The suspect identified as Abdulkarim Tahir has “caused the death of five women in the course of illegal human trafficking,” said the court.
According to state media – Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) – Abdulkarim cajoled five young ladies of Gursum district of East Hararge zone, Dayferes kebele to entrap them in illegal human trafficking.
Five of the eight young ladies whom he managed to convince that they would make it to Saudi Arabia drowned in a boat accident in an unspecified location.
He reportedly received three thousand Ethiopian birr from each of them, and he took them from their places during night time to avoid suspicion.
It was, however, unspecified in EBC’s election the convict is to appeal the courts’ decision or not.

THE LAST TWO DEATH SENTENCES PASSED IN ETHIOPIA WERE IN THE YEAR 1998 AND IN THE YEAR 2007 .

NOW in 2020 we hear about forgiving day in day out by the forgiven “reformed” TPLF spy chief PM Abiy Ahmed then this absurd sentencing comes out from the voooo Court ruling a VOODOO JUSTICE eventhough these dead five women willingly got on the boat , they even paid the man to transport them and all of a sudden the boat accidentally capsizes causing their death and he is sentenced to death for it??? Something is wrong with the whole picture.
I would see him being sentenced to death if he drowned them on purpose, but if it was an accident it is a stiff penalty , nowhere in the legal criminal code there is a law that backs up this sentencing. It is one of the VOODOO JUSTICE .
The Ethiopian roads authority built so many roads and bridges that fall apart regularly causing millions of human deaths in traffic accidents in Ethiopia . We illegally ride on a back of a truck as if they are a bus or a taxi and the vehicles get into an accident due to poor road quality and people die almost each hour by the hour in Ethiopia
with the trucks rolling over/capsizing , WHILE THEY ARE AT IT THEYIGHT AS WELL sentencee to death the engineers that built the FAKE bridges/roads along with the truck drivers that illegally transport people on the back of their trucks .
My assumption is Saudi Arabia must have demanded his head as usual , with Saudis mercinaries in Ethiopia Berhanu Tsegaye / Abiy Ahmed doing what Saudi Arabia demanded from them.
Talking about harsh treatment . In a country where University Students cannot go from their school to nearby bus depot ground transportation station safely, giving a death sentence to this poor guy who used his boat to transport women going in exile just shows how much power Saudi Arabia got to squeeze the hands of the Ethiopian legal system .
