Facebook has rolled out a program to minimize information in Ethiopia and nine other African countries, reported Ethiopian State-affiliated media Fana Broadcasting Corporation (FBC).
The program will employ a third-party fact-checking application to effect change in that regard.
The program will cover Zambia, Burkina Faso, Somalia, Uganda, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Guinea , according to FBC report.
A report by Africannews.con published on Wednesday said that facebook work with “a network of fact-checking organizations that are “signatories to the non-partisan International Fact-Checking Network Code of Principles.”
Facebook’s program expansion “forms part of its work in helping assess the accuracy and quality of news people find on Facebook, whilst reducing the spread of misinformation on its platform.”
