Addis Ababa City bus, Anbessa, reportedly plunged to a river , adjacent to St. Stephen church, which is located near the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in the Ethiopian capital.
Two passengers are confirmed dead, according to state affiliated media Fana Broadcasting Corporation (FBC).
The city’s Fire Prevention and Emergency services commissioner, Nesibu Yasin, told FBC that victims from the tragic accident are taken to various hospitals in Addis Ababa.
The number 55 bus was traveling from Ferensay legation (Amharic for French legation) to Legahar – downtown area for Addis Ababa.
A report by Walta Information (WI), however, says that the bus was traveling from Shero Meda to Stadium. Walta Information added that 41 people sustained light and life-threatening injuries.
Cause of the accident is not yet established, and authorities are working on it, according to FBC report.
