Israeli student found dead in Ethiopia’s Danakil region

Body of Aya Na’amana, a 21 years old Israeli and a student of Technion, who reportedly missed in the morning of August 17 in the Danakil Desert in the Eastern part of Ethiopia, is found in the region. 

According to a report by The Times of Israel,  a search team was dispatched to the area on Saturday afternoon.  Apparently, it was too late as the Israeli student was not found alive. 

Ana Na’amana was part of a team of foreign students who completed a four-week academic course in Mekelle city, Tigray region in Northern Ethiopia, but the trip to Ethiopia’s hottest region the Danakil region with a temperature of over 45 °C. 

However, the trip to the Danakil depression was not part of the course. It was privately organized by a group of students. Aya Na’amana went missing while hiking in a temperature that is believed to be over 50 °C, as reported by the Times of Israel.
