The 1440th Eid-al-Adha holiday is celebrated across Ethiopia. In the capital Addis Ababa, hundreds of thousands of Muslims celebrated it at Addis Ababa Stadium through prayers and other religious rituals.
Ethiopian Muslim Affairs Council president, Tekedami Mufti Haji Omar Indris, expressed his holiday greetings to all Ethiopian Muslims.
He said, “We should celebrate the holiday without forgetting the needy and that we share.” He also reminded Ethiopian Muslims to remember the elderly and share with them.
Ethiopian Security authorities have disclosed that holiday celebration was a smooth one and no security incident was reported.
In a related development, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed visited the Holy Qoran school where there are more than 1200 orphaned children on the occasion of Muslim Holiday. He was accompanied by Addis Ababa City acting mayor, Takele Uma.
In his Eid-al-Adha message for Ethiopian Muslim, Abiy Ahmed said: “Ethiopians should not divide along ethnic and religious line, help one another and eradicate poverty.”
“Real man does live not just for himself but for others too,” he added to emphasize the importance of helping one another.
