Ethiopian Airlines, the largest African Airlines, celebrated International Women’s Day by dispatching an all women flight on Friday.
The Airlines announced on its social media page that it has operated an all women flight to Oslo, Norway. Apart from the flight crew, ground technicians and other support work for the flight were entirely operated by women in Addis Ababa as well.
Ethiopian announced on its twitter page on Faraday that the all women flight has already arrived in Oslo and was greeted by politicians and members of the Ethiopian Community in Oslo.
“Ethiopian Airlines #Allwomenoperated flight to Oslo has just arrived and Received a warm welcome by Diplomats and Ethiopian Community in Norway.”
Also, a welcome ceremony and panel discussion was held as part of the March 8, International Women Day ceremony.
In 2018, the airlines operated similar all women flight Buenos Aires, Argentina, and also named three times Olympic Gold medalist Tirunesh Dibaba as its brand ambassador on the occasion of the international Women Day, March 8.
