Nigussu Tilahun is appointed as head of Press Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister. He will be replacing Billene Aster Seyoum whose appointment as press secretary raised eyebrow on grounds of her Canadian Citizenship and her decision not to be referred to as Woizerit (equivalent of Ms.) which triggered debate among Ethiopian on social media.
Known for attention for details and well measured response, Nigussu did have a positive approval rating when he worked as Communication Head of Amhara regional state.
He was, however, serving as the region’s head of culture and tourism in the rank of deputy head of the region in his last position before his new position for several months now.
A deputy press secretary is also appointed. Kassahun Goffee, who has been serving as deputy Minister of Urbandevelopment and Construction, will replace Hellen Yosef as Deputy press Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office.
This weekend, the Office has unveiled a brand new website with the intention to facilitate access to information, including timely updates, from the Prime Minister’s Office.
