United Arab Emirates signed labour agreement with Ethiopia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia disclosed today that Ethiopia signed a bilateral labour agreement with United Arab Emirates (UAE)

Workeneh Gebeyehu, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Nasser bin Thani Juma Al Hamli, UAE’s minister for Human Resources and Emiratization in Abu Dhabi,signed the agreement.

The ministry said that the agreement would “ensure the protection of the rights of Ethiopian nationals and help them work in the Emirates legally.”

Ethiopia has reached similar bilateral agreements with the governments of Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Among other things, the bilateral agreement is expected to help curb illegal migration.
