Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has arrived in Ethiopia for a two days official visit.

Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopian Prime Minister, and his Foreign Affairs Minister, Workneh Gebeyehu, greeted Mr. Conte up on arrival at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa.

In the evening, Abiy Ahmed hosted dinner for the visiting Italian Prime Minister at the National Palace.

State affiliated Fana Broadcasting Corporation cited Prime Minister Abiy as saying that he held productive discussion with Mr. Conte and that an agreement of cooperation is reached in the areas of infrastructure development, trade and investment.

Ethiopia and Italy have historical and versatile relation and we have reached an agreement with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to be determined to elevate the relation to a higher, the Italian Prime Minister is cited as saying on his part.

Mr. Conte also reportedly expressed admiration ongoing political and economic reforms in Ethiopia.

In a similar development, Ethiopia and Italy signed a 696 million Ethiopian birr agreement which is said to be spent on fixing urban water and sewerage, according to a report by Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) – state owned media.
