Ethiopia to Inaugurate Adama Industrial Parks this Sunday

The Adama Industrial Park, whose construction was launched in 2016, will be inaugurated on Sunday, October 07, 2018, Fana broadcasting Corporate reports today.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and other government officials will attend the inauguration ceremony in Adama town, 90m kilometer far from the capital.

The government is working on promoting the success of the manufacturing industry by facilitating suitable working environments including the building of industrial parks and infrastructure need for the development of the sector, according to Ethiopian Investment Commission.

Adama Industrial Park which will specialize in textile, apparel, and agro-processing, is one of the Industrial parks built to expand manufacturing industry in the nation.

The new park which is built at the cost of $147million US dollars on a 120-hectare plot of land has 19 working sheds inside.

When the park becomes fully operational, it is expected to create nearly 60 thousand jobs in the area.

As Adama and Dire Dawa cities are close to the Port of Djibouti, it is prsumed that they would contribute to the facilitation of foreign trade for the country.

The parks are also expected to further strengthen industrial development in the country as they contribute for Ethiopia’ vision of becoming a manufacturing hub in Africa.

“Adama and Dire Dawa industrial parks [are] built at comfortable places, so the investors could easily engage at any time without any challenges. Many investors are requesting to invest in Dire Dawa industrial park, as it is close to port”, Belachew Mekuria, the former commissioner of the commission who has resigned from his position, said months ago.
