Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM) issued a statement upon completing its weeks-long evaluation of the party.
There does not seem to be a change n terms of party leadership. Gedu Andargachew and Demeke Mekonnen will remain vice chairman and chairman respectively. There was a rumor that Gedu Andargachew was removed as party chairman and president of the region.
The statement said that the party evaluated not only internal party affairs but also the crisis in the country and has “identified direction” to resolve the problem.
The party identified wagging struggle against what it called “anti-democratic practices” in the party and outside of the party as a matter of survival and will relentlessly a struggle against them.
Furthermore, the statement touched upon issues related to rule of law and peace in the county, corruption, maladministration, “transformation and the fight against poverty”, unfair redistribution of resources and vowed that it will struggle to get them right.
The party also called upon, among others, opposition parties to work together on the basis of the constitution.
The party ended its statement with a new slogan “There is no challenge that we can not solve when our people stand with us”
