Dubai Marathon 2018 – The fastest ever. Clean sweep by Ethiopians in both categories.

Ethiopia dominated the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon both in Men and Women categories. Mosinet Geremew set a course to recond in the race and finished in 2.04:00 to claim race title and $US200,000 prize. Leul Gebresilase finished second just two seconds after Mosinet to finish in 2:04:02. Last years champion of Dubai Marathon, Tamrat Tolla, finished third in 2:04:06. The top ten spots were held by Ethiopian runners in the race and they all run under 2:05:00.
In the women’s category, Roza Dereje crossed the finishing line first breaking the course record for Dubai Marathon. She finished the distance in 2:19:17. The broken course record was 2:19:31 which was held by Aselefech Mergia of Ethiopia when she won it in 2012. Seven of the top ten positions in the women’s race is also held by Ethiopians.
Roza Dereje claimed a prize of US $200,000. Those who finished second and third claimed $US 80,000 and $US 40,000 respectively.
A huge Ethiopian crowed turned out at the scene to cheer Ethiopian runners. The mood was euphoric as Ethiopian runners dominated the top ten positions. Watch the Video below.
