As the Red Sea is becoming militarized so fast following the arrival of contingents heavily armed Egyptians troops in Eritrea (which was coordinated with the United Arab Emirates) and Sudan beefing up military along Eritrea Sudanese border, and closing the border, Ethiopian Foreign Minister is in the United Arab Emirates for an official working visit.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Workneh intends to “mapping out new ways of further bolstering the ties” and will be meeting United Arab Emirates minister of foreign affairs, Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zayed Al-Nahyanand. The ministry is not revealing if increased militarization of the Red Sea is going to be among agenda item for discussion with UAE authorities.
Workneh was received upon arrival at Dubai International Airport by Ethiopian Ambassador to the UAE, Tebeje Berhe. Ethiopian government intensified diplomatic campaign in the Middle East over the past few months as the talk with Egypt is stalled and the government faced dire foreign currency shortage.
