No athlete was able to come close to Almaz Ayana of Ethiopia as she cruised to cross the finish line in women 10,000 meters at the World Athletics Championship 2017 event in London.
It was Tirunesh Dibaba of Ethiopia, most celebrated Ethiopian athlete who dominated the distance for nearly a decade, who finished the distance second in a time of 31:02:69.

Anges Jabet Tirop and Alice Aprot Nawowuna of Kenya finished third and fourth in a time of 31:03:50 and 31:11:86 respectively.
Almaz run nearly half of the 25 laps alone to finish it all in 30:16:32.
She broke the world record in the distance at the Rio Olympic last year when she finished the distance in 29:17.46 hours.
She is expected to win double gold in this tournament as she is running in the 5000 meters category.
The 10,000 meters men category was a different story in the opening day of the tournament. No Ethiopian Athlete won a medal let alone to stop Mo Farah from finishing first.
