Mogadishu Car bomb killed at least five security forces and anti-mines expert. VOA Amharic cited Somalia Police spokesperson, Mohammed Yussuf Omar to report that the car where the bomb was planted was parked near police station.
From the report, it appears that bomb was detected earlier and police was putting the driver under custody while they were trying to neutralize the bomb – an effort which rather turned out to be a tragedy.
No entity took responsibility for the explosion so far.
Somalia is home to Islamic militant group – Al-Shabab. During a visit to Ethiopia, Abdullahi Farmajo, Somalia’s new president, vowed he will eliminate Al-Shabab militants in two years time.
