KHARTOUM, -Sudan’s Presidency on Thursday said that Sudanese First Vice-President and Prime Minister Bakri Hassan Saleh is to announce the new government Thursday evening.
“Ministers of the new government will take oath on Friday evening,” the Sudanese Presidency said in a press release today.
Meanwhile, the leadership office of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) is expected to hold a meeting Thursday evening to name its ministers in the new government of national consensus.
Sudan’s Presidential Assistant and NCP Deputy Chairman Ibrahim Mahmoud would hold a briefing meeting on Thursday evening after the meeting of the leadership office.
The new government was scheduled to be announced last February but was delayed due to differences within the parties which participated in the national dialogue conference which concluded its sessions in October last year.
The ruling NCP has promised to give concessions to avail the opportunity for over 40 political parties and around 30 armed movements to participate in the new government.
According to the recommendations of the national dialogue conference, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir is to nominate 65 parliamentary members from the parties which participated in the dialogue process. Presently, the number of the Sudanese parliament amounts to 426 members.
