AFCON 2017 : Cameroon claimed cup after beating Egypt

In what many spectators says is well deserved win, Cameroon came from behind to win AFCON 2017 in a 2-1 score against Egypt.

Substitute Vincent Aboubakar scored the winning goal for the Indomitable Lions side just two minutes away from the final whistle.

Egypt had a lead in the match after Mohamed Elneny scored at the 22 minutes from a tight angle within the penalty box.

Cameroon dominated the match with 57 % of ball possession. Egypt is a seven time champion of African cup of Nations and was a favorite in this edition of African Cup of Nations,too.

Commentators praised Cameroonian side for team work at the AFCON 2017.

Their Belgian coach,Hugo Broos, is quoted as saying, by the BBC, “I am happy for the players…This is not a group of football players, they are a group of friends.”

It is to be recalled that Team Cameroon was criticized for a very poor team work in their last world cup appearance.

Cameroon got African Cup of Nations championship title for the first time in fifteen years. The last time they won AFCON was in 2002. AFCON 2017 is the fifth win for Cameroon in the history of African Cup of Nations.
