Federal Prosecutor Getachew Ambaye claims that state of emergency brought about tangible results. Reputable human rights groups on the other hand accuse government of using state of emergency so as to give legal cover to intensified attack on Ethiopians.
In related news, Ethiopian satellite television reported members of Ethiopian parliament, entirely from the ruling party, voted against the state of emergency. If the parliament indeed voted against it, this will set a precedent in the history of parliament under the ruling “coalition” – EPRDF. However, whether the vote is a genuine breakthrough within the party or just a new start to manipulate the population remains to be seen.
Claim by the regime aside, Ethiopia is living a state of state terror – according to many obeservers.
