Ethiopian athlete Shure Demise won Scotia Bank Toronto Water Front marathon in women’s category. Shure finished the distance in 2:25:19.
CBC quoted Shure as saying that she felt a great deal of happiness when crossing the finishing line.
Kenya’s Philemon Rono won the marathon in the men’s category with a decent time 2:08:27.
More than 25,000 runners from over sixty countries took part in the marathon, according to Canadian Broadcasting Corporation report.
Toronto’s Mayor,John Tory,was at the event.
Scotia Bank Toronto Water Front marathon is a popular annual event. Hundreds and thousands of charity organizations take part and use the event to raise funds for their cause.
