In an interview with Dereje Habtewold (from ESAT), Abebe Bogale – senior figure in within Arbegnoch-Ginbot 7 leadership-says the core of regime in Ethiopia is infiltrated with people who work for Arbegnoch-Ginbot 7.
Ruling party has been officially alleging that Ginbot 7 members infiltrated its structure at all levels. One very apparent evidence that could support the case is that top level secrets of the regime leaked at different times.
Abebe Bogale underscored infiltration was one of the strategies his party adopted to weaken the system from within.
In his view, one of the measures that the regime in power will take during this state of emergency period is to look from within to identify infiltrators. In the process, the regime could come in a collision course with itself when it go after those who propose change as they are likely be labelled as infiltrators – which he says is self-defeating.
Commenting on the state of emergency itself, Abebe reiterated widely held belief that there has been state of emergency like conditions in many parts of Ethiopia for nearly a year now and that the intent of official declaration of the state of emergency is rather to attract the attention of diplomats and give a “legal” basis for widespread killings and gross human rights abuse.
