Federal police in Addis Ababa blocked roads randomly, conducted searches

Addis Ababa Federal Police is stopping residents randomly and searching back-bags and brief cases this afternoon.

There is no planned protest in Addis Ababa for this weekend. Not clear as to what motivated random searches.

Many neighbourhoods in Addis Ababa have reportedly experienced similar situation today.

Neighbhourhoods like Qechene and ares adjacent to the British embassy were totally rounded by Federal police and roads were blocked.

The political situation has been tense in Ethiopia for several months now and as many as 1000 civilians are killed in all parts of the counrty.

Meanwhile, protest in Gojam continued. Today, the town of Dembecha witnessed massive protest. One person is reportedly killed.
