Ethiopia will host the 2015 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup slated in November, after Rwanda Football Federation, FERWAFA turned down the offer.
The hosting of the annual tournament was interrupted in 2014 for the first time when it failed to take place with the secretariat failure to get a host country after the serious spread of Ebola that forced many governments to decline hosting.
EFF President Junedin Basha expressed his excitement alluding to the fact that all stakeholders should join hands to make the competition competitive.
“Yes, we will be hosting the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge and we are excited as a federation to have this honour to host this auspicious occasion.
It’s through a lot of consultations with the government that the same was realized”. “I want to call on all stakeholders to join hand and make 2015 Senior challenge cup a success”, Junedin told Soka25east. com.
On his part, CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye acknowledged the new developments saying Ethiopia had been given the mandate to host the tourney.
“Yes, it’s true Ethiopia have been granted the rights to host Senior Challenge and we hope this will go on smoothly as scheduled in November.”
