January 21,2015

Egypt and Ethiopia are to make political agreement over the Nile water according to a report published by TurkishPress yesterday.

Regarding what exactly the extent of the ‘political deal’ , TurkishPress quoted its sources as saying “In a nutshell, the declaration is a political agreement under which the two countries can reach a consensus on matters related to water usage, and that can be later translated into multiple agreements, including a legal one”

Not much is known under what circumstances and how the ‘political deal’ will carry on to include even a legal one regarding Nile water use.

The political deal is expected to be signed by El-Sisi and Hailemariam Desalegne at the end of the month, according to the source.
