Guye Adola broke record set by countryman Atsedu Tsegay last year by finishing the event with a timing of 59.06 minutes. He edged past 2014 IAAF/AL Bank World Half Marathon champion Geoffrey Kamworor and Mosinet Geremew of Ethiopia who came third after clocking 59:11 minutes.
In the International Elite Women category, defending champion Florence Kiplagat of Kenya won with a timing of 01:10:04 beating compatriot Gladys Cherono (01:10:05). Ethiopian runner Worknesh Degefa finished third with a timing of 01:10:07.
Coming into the Delhi marathon, Adola had settled for bronze in 2014 IAAF/AL Bank World Half Marathon, competition that was won by Kamworor.
