Amendment on copy right proclamation no. 410/96 which deals with literary works,recorded music and other art works is ratified, says Reporterr in its Amharic edition of November 19,2014
The Amendment stipulates, according the the report, that any musical recording released for commercial purpose is entitled to royalty payment if it is used, as background music or otherwise, in TV transmissions, radio shows or in websites and other places.
The task of regulating royalty payment will be entrusted to an association for the protection of copy rights.
The report also indicated that mechanism will be devised for copy right owners whose works are used in overseas to receive benefit.
