RAIPUR- Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh, on Thursday ordered a judicial probe into the botched sterilizations in Bilaspur district that have so far claimed lives of 13 women and left another 60 ailing.
Announcing the probe, the chief minister said all possible “angles” of the tragedy were being looked into by the inquiry committee and exact cause of the deaths would be known only after the detailed postmortem report and analysis of the drugs that have been seized is out.
He said samples of the drugs that were distributed at the three ill-fated health camps – Takhatpur, Gaurella and Marwahi – have been sent to the central lab in Kolkotta for testing. “We would be able to comment on the quality of the drugs only after we receive the report from there”, he said.
