United States and African Union rejected army takeover of power in Burkina Faso

According to a report by Xinhua , The US and African Union rejected military takeover in Burkina Faso following the popular movement that toppled Blaise Compaore

Deputy commander of elite presidential guard, Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Zida was appointed as head of state for transitional period.

Unlike the military coup in Egypt, the US seem to be very firm even against consensual military leadership.

Burkina Faso, under Thomas Sankara who was brutally murdered immediately before the coming to power of Blaise Compaore, didn’t have a good relation with the west and took socialist reforms.

Probably what is feared is resurgence of popular leadership.
