The Yemeni PM has resigned as Shia Houthi rebels have been fighting government forces in the capital since Thursday. Despite a UN-brokered deal between the sides on Sunday the insurgents reportedly took control of some military buildings and government offices. Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa has submitted his resignation to President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. “I have decided to tender my resignation from the government (of national reconciliation) out of my concern to pave the way for any agreement reached between the brother leaders of Ansarullah (the Houthis) and Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, the president of the republic,” Basindwa wrote in a letter, Reuters reports.
